Waimarie

Hey, I’m Waimarie! Since a young age, I’ve always had a natural gravitation and love towards nature and the outdoors. Growing up in the lush green mountains of the Gold Coast’s Hinterland, I’ve been fortunate enough to experience the best of both worlds with being surrounded by the natural beauty of the bush and only a stone throw away our beautiful coastline and beaches.

Growing up surrounded by nature and away from the hustle and bustle has made me develop a strong connection, gratitude, and respect for the land.

I am one of the co-founders of the not-for-profit organisation, Youth 4 Beaches, that inspires youth to a take action towards keeping our beaches clean and encourages them to live a sustainable lifestyle. I’ve also completed my Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards as well as participating in various Kokoda Challenges.

I hold qualifications as a personal trainer with Cert III + IV in Fitness and a Cert II and Cert III in Outdoor Recreation. I love working with others and being able to contribute to environmental conservation and community work in every area.  My participation and volunteering in various Wild Mob projects went hand in hand with me completing my Cert III in Active Volunteering.

I have a deep passion for living a healthy and sustainable lifestyle by nourishing and looking after our bodies naturally and holistically, keeping active and looking after this beautiful planet. I think most humans don’t realise how much we take for granted and rely on the environment. The air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink have all come from mother nature. When we pollute her, we effectively end up poisoning ourselves along with the flora and fauna she provides. We need to preserve, protect and conserve our natural ecosystems, wildlife and environment to ensure a healthy and sustainable life for both us, the land and the future.

I see it as our generation’s responsibility to unite as leaders, as friends, and as a community, to encourage one another to make a positive impact. We must realise what a breathtaking world we are so privileged to be a part of and learn to live in harmony with every aspect of it. I hope to inspire other youth to lead healthy and sustainable lifestyles through becoming more aware of our environmental impacts and taking action. Together, we can make a change and protect our wonderful earth for the many generations to come!
