My name is Harrison Tippett, but everyone calls me Harry. I grew up on the Gold Coast and as a young boy I developed a love of the ocean, which led me to becoming interested in caring for the ocean after seeing how much humans negatively impact upon it. I have always considered myself an ‘out-doorsy’ type of person. I have been involved in Scouts Australia for many years, achieving an Australian Scout Medallion. I have a Certificate 3 in Active Volunteering. I volunteer as a rural fire fighter and I have participated in the Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge three times. I have also volunteered on Wild Mob projects on Norfolk Island, in the Cumberland Islands Group and the Hauraki Gulf in New Zealand.

I have completed a Certificate 3 in Business linked to a traineeship at Jacob’s Well Environmental Education Centre, which allowed me to share my passion for the environment – specifically marine science – with students from Years 3 to 12. I have also completed my Certificate 3 in Fitness and Certificates 2 and 3 in Outdoor Recreation.

My dream is to help to educate the youth of Australia about how wonderful our beaches, oceans and waterways are. I hope to make them more aware of the impact that we, as humans, have on the environment and how they can make a positive difference through their actions.
