Welcome to Norfolk Flora Week!
Join local Norfolk Island plant experts Margaret Christian, Dr Kevin Mills and the Wild Mob team for an unforgettable week on Norfolk Island…. all about plants!
For some 2.5 million years, Norfolk Island has existed above the waves. And over this geologically short history, a unique ecosystem containing myriad plants and animals has evolved.
The rainforest on Norfolk Island is incredibly unique; neither the endemic species nor the combination of plant and animal species found on Norfolk occur anywhere else in the world. Like many islands, endemism is high, endemic plants accounting for about 24 percent of the total indigenous flora.
Is this trip right for you?
Packed with expert-guided botanical walks through Norfolk’s pristine landscape, presentations, social events and more, this is your chance discover one the world’s most important biodiversity hotpots alongside the people who know it best.
The week caters to plant aficionados looking for rare and endemic species, right through to the new nature lover wanting to learn more about some incredible habitats.

Kevin has written widely on the plants and vegetation in both regions and has published several books. His voluntary work includes assisting park managers in New South Wales and on Norfolk Island with the management of protected areas.
Marg Christian, Norfolk Island Project Leader
Marg moved to Norfolk Island in 1981 and soon after was employed by the Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service. When the Norfolk Island National Park was later declared, there were 3 staff and that small team had the challenge of managing over 50 endemic species of flora and fauna.
